Brown's Country Buffet - Alachua, Florida

Listen, I’m not exaggerating when I say this was one of the damn best buffets I’ve ever shoved my face at for legit home-cooked food. New people took over and it is not the same. The fried chicken was amazing before the takeover, now it's just OK. The chicken tastes decent, its just not what I am used to. Tucked in Alachua, this place was a freaking gem. Yeah, it gets busy as hell at lunch, so prepare to park your ass in the back forty. But here’s the kicker, somehow I’ve never had to wait for a table, even when it’s packed like a can of fucking sardines. There are three whole sections, so seating’s never a pain in the balls.

Okay, the decor’s seen better decades, it could use a serious update, but who the hell cares when the food is this good. The staff are sweet as pie and on top of their game. Now, the food, holy crap, the food. They’ve got a full salad bar loaded with tasty bits, and the hot bar? Good lord. Greens, mac ’n’ cheese, rice, mashed potatoes, you name it. Like I said before, the fried chicken… sweet mother of mercy, that’s was the best goddamn chicken I’ve ever put in my mouth, now it is a bit different, but still decent enough. They also do a baked chicken, because why not? This is Southern cooking at its unapologetic finest. Some days they throw in fried pork chops or fish, because they clearly want us to waddle out. Oh, and there’s a weekend breakfast buffet, because of course there is. Besides the buffet, they’ve got a regular menu too, but let’s be real, you’re here for the all-you-can-eat glory.

And just when you think it can’t get better, they roll out a pretty kick-ass dessert bar. Go ahead and visit and you be the judge of if you think it is good, or not...what the fuck do I care!
